Obituary

Robert L. “Bob” Stejskal, 72, Russell, Kansas, died Friday, March 6, 2020, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.

Bob was born June 28, 1947, in La Crosse, Kansas, the son of Lester M. and Minnie (Schaffer) Stejskal. He was a resident of Russell, Kansas, for 19 years, moving from La Crosse, Kansas. A 1966 graduate of La Crosse High School, La Crosse, Kansas, he attended Brown Mackie College, Salina, Kansas. Bob worked in the oil industry. The last 19 years before his retirement, he worked for AnswerNet, Hays, Kansas.

He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and Knights Of Columbus Council #2970, both of La Crosse, Kansas. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3147, La Crosse, Kansas.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Bob was stationed on the USS Enterprise, the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.

On March 19, 2012, he married Sue Peterson at Russell, Kansas.

Survivors include: his wife, Sue Stejskal, Russell, Kansas; one son, Jason Stejskal (fiancée, Rayla Redmon), Hays, Kansas; one step son, Doug Peterson (Aimee), Sterling, Kansas; two step daughters, Shannon Thornburg (Jeff), Russell, Kansas, and Amy Peterson, Hays, Kansas; one grandson, Dylan Stejskal, Hays, Kansas; eight step grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Church visitation will be Wednesday, March 11, 2020, from 9:00 A.M. to 9:50 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas, with Father Stephen Da banka officiating. Interment will be in the La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas.

    Jason I am so very sorry for the loss of your father. While I did not personally know your dad I would
    imagine he is the man responsible for passing along to you those traits and characteristics that
    make you such a kind, compassionate, patient and loving soul. Myself, Steve and Jonathan are so
